PCV (Packed Cell Volume) tubes from TPP provides a way to quantify cells or cell density, as an alternative to automated cell counters, to for instance quantify yields in your bio-fermentation process.

PCV tubes provides a quick an easy test:

1. Take out sample (defined volume)

2. Transfer sample to the PCV tube

3. Spin at appr. 1 min at 25000xG

4. Read pellet

PCV tubes from TPP fit into a normal centrifuge rotor for 1,5/2,0 mL microtubes or in a rotor for 15 mL falcon tubes, with the PCV tube inside the falcon tube. After the spin down process the Packed Cell Volume can be read directly on the tube with markings or using an “easy read” ruler for unmarked tubes. Using the easy read ruler and unmarked PCV tubes will allow for high precision readings.
