An incubator provides a stable, contamination-free environment which is a basic requirement in a laboratory.
In the chamber, the temperature range can usually be controlled (depending on the model) in the range from 0 ° C to 80 ° C, but an incubator is often used from 5 ° C to 37 ° C. The incubator can be expanded to also regulate several growth factors such as humidity, ventilation and CO2. An incubator is therefore named after the type of equipment.
