There are many types, so it is important to be aware of which model and which level of protection you need. Especially the designations FFP2 and FFP3 are good to know. FFP stands for 'filtering facepiece' and is a particle filtering classification that provides information on the mask's ability to filter particles, and thus the degree of protection the masks provide.

Masks are effective in filtering the air and particles coming from the person wearing the mask, thus protecting the environment, while an FFP2 mask filters both inhaled and exhaled air. This protects both the environment and the person wearing the mask.
